Christian Hanke appointed to lead Laboratory Division of GENII Software Group

Munich, July 4, 2023.

GSG GENII Software Group has appointed Christian Hanke as Head of its Laboratory Division, with responsibility for all companies in the GENII Group that specialize in IT solutions for laboratories. Specifically, these are iVention, Dorner, MDN, Melos and GUS LAB – a company that recently emerged from the merger of Blomesystem and iCD. Building on GENII‘s internationally leading laboratory solutions Christian will continue to bring together in the experience and skills of all laboratory companies under the GENII umbrella in order to change the world of laboratory automation. This will include further investments for the continued development of these products.

Christian has over 25 years of experience in the software business, primarily in healthcare, pharmacy and laboratories. For more than 20 years he worked as Managing Director of the software company Cato Software Solution, which he co-founded, and which was later integrated as an Austrian branch in Becton Dickinson (BD), a leading global medical technology group. At Becton Dickinson, he held various management roles in software marketing, business development and R&D with teams in Europe, the USA and China. Most recently, as “Senior Director Informatics” at BD Diagnostics, he was responsible for the strategic alignment of the software portfolio for Europe. He now brings this experience in successful software development for business and the worldwide introduction of IT solutions to GENII.

With Christian as the new head of the Laboratory Division, GENII Software Group will strengthen the existing IT solutions such as LIMS (laboratory information and management systems), LIS (laboratory information systems), LES (laboratory execution systems) with the potential of smart devices and AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) to pave the way for “Smart Labs”.

“Smart laboratories are characterized by automated workflows and the seamless integration of devices from different specialized providers,” says Christian Hanke. “Leading laboratories are increasingly relying on a central cloud-based collection of huge amounts of data generated from this in order to gain better insights and analysis.”

Hanke also sees the IT market for laboratories facing consolidation: “In view of the concentrated laboratory expertise in the group, this offers GENII the opportunity to significantly expand its position as a strong player on the European and global market. I am looking forward to driving this development forward.”

“With Christian on board, we are consistently implementing our strategy of uniting and further developing leading providers of specialist business software under the umbrella of GENII,” adds Matthias Siekmann, CEO of GENII. “With targeted and extensive investments in our laboratory automation solutions, we want to make GENII one of the world’s leading LIMS providers.
